CBS can be aggressive if you plan on having other types of shrimp. You might look into a skunk cleaner shrimp which is a very cool shrimp and will form some symbiotic relationships with your fish and could promote fish health as well. Cleaner shrimp are very peaceful and will (in the right conditions) be out and about in your tank and won't hide as much
ok, so in small tanks they tend to be a problem but in larger tanks they are great! is a 47 gallon big enough?Coral banded is my favorite. I have had them as well as skunk cleaners and blood red fire shrimp and peppermint. All of my shrimp just hide and come out at night. The coral banded was much more active and out and about in the tank. I suppose in a very small tank with very small fish they could be a problem but I never had any trouble with mine bothering any other live stock. I did not keep one with other shrimp.
ok, will they hurt my hermits?I know they have issues with other shrimp and potentially other inverts, but I have heard that the blue colored ones are a little bit more docile.
yeah, but my lfs sell them for an outrageous $60! I'm not willing to have them shipped to me either.CBS can be aggressive if you plan on having other types of shrimp. OK, that is scary! I've never heard of this. And I do have nems so that should be something I consider.I once had a banded coral shrimp that ripped all of the tentacles off my anemone...just for something to do.![]()
I kept mine in a 24x22x22 tank with no issues. They may bother hermits but mine did not.ok, so in small tanks they tend to be a problem but in larger tanks they are great! is a 47 gallon big enough?
That's steep for a coral banded IMO. I can get blood-red and cleaners for considerably less than that at my lfsyeah, but my lfs sell them for an outrageous $60! I'm not willing to have them shipped to me either.
LOL, my tank is a little smaller than that but I'll most likely get one. I think the only reason they annoy other tank mates is because they're hungry. I'll make sure to feed it well!I kept mine in a 24x22x22 tank with no issues. They may bother hermits but mine did not.

It didn't eat the tentacles either...just ripped them all off until the anemone had no tentacles left. After that I flushed the anemone and returned the banded coral shrimp to the store. Never again!OK, that is scary! I've never heard of this. And I do have nems so that should be something I consider.
ok! sounds good! Its a very cool shrimp, my favorite large shrimp.
I had him alone in a 5 gallon with snails and crabs, it left everything alone, but I feed it well. I needed to use that 5 gallon for something else, so now its in my 20 gallon damsel tank.
My LFS sometimes sell's paired CBS's. When this CBS passes, I'm going to get a pair.
