Coral beauty and corals.

I’ve had my coral beauty for a few months now and I have all the fish I want. Unfortunately I wasn’t paying too much attention when I bought my fish and my coral beauty is cautionary with corals. Thankfully he’s the only one. I was planning on starting to fill my tank with corals soon, has anyone had any bad experiences with these two? Are there ways of making sure they don’t nip at the corals?

I've had one since I started my tank, I've never seen him pick at anything in my tank!

It's all a gamble, although I will say it's a bit of a higher risk with adding corals to an established one than the other way around. Newer additions tend to grab their attention more. Mine will periodically take an exploratory nibble on mine, but nothing that hurts them long term. My Green Hammer which was added after the CB was tends to garner most of it's attention, but once again it's only an occasional exploratory nip. I will say that with any dwarf angel it helps to have a tank with algae growing for it to graze on and daily seaweed feedings in addition to other foods.

I have a yellow tang as well. Why is the tang beneficial?

out of all the dwarf the coral beauty is the lest likely to go after corals. Mine has been in my tank from the beginning in 2015. I added corals after it. I have all soft corals just added a Duncan and it leaves them alone. You should be fine with it

I have a yellow tang as well. Why is the tang beneficial?

Usually for algae eating capabilities (tends to like the hair algae that many things won't touch). That said, they can also be buttheads as they mature. Mine was a jerk to my coral beauty. *EDIT* Ah, I see I made a typo in my last post. Shouldn't read Tang, should read Tank. I fixed the post now.

I honestly have 1 in a 40B (3+inches) fully stocked mixed reef n no nipping ya ya little small n 1 in a 120 with a bicolor angle n I'll get a flame as well muhaha with no problem just feed a bunch. Ive come to to conclusion i like food n so do all animals there's always a way to export excessive nutrients! You'll be fine feed feed feed + fish poop is key for coral health!

I bought mine also without fully researching Coral beauties and then I got super nervous because I have a ton of lps and softies and I watched him like a hawk for a few weeks. Only been a couple months but he hasn’t nipped anything.

Lotta people are afraid to feed fish for algae outbreaks blah blah blah thats when fish will attack other fish n corals if you can feed excessive where fish are fat n happy and have a good source of exporting extra nutrients (good husbandry, protein skimmer Filter Floss) you will be fine!

I have a coral beauty, infact I have also sorts of ‘with caution’ fish in a full blown reef tank, and I haven’t had any issues with fish damaging corals other than my regal Tang who likes zoa’s on the menu.

It depends on the individual fish so......

Would an auto fish feeder possibly help with this situation? Since I’m not home for 8-10 hours of the day. Maybe feeding it and the other fish 3-4 small meals a day keep it occupied and away from the corals?

It could but you are going to want to make sure to compensate by having massive nutrient removal as that kind of feeding is going to produce a lot of waste.
