i got a coral beauty that might be picking on my coral polyps, including sps and lps.. but the zoos are ok so far,, anyone else having problems with this?

coral beauty is an angel and yes they will nip on sps. to be honest, having an angel of any kind isnt a good idea at all. yes they are great fish too look at but once they start to nip they dont stop. i took out my flame angel due to these issue. most my sps stop opening durning the day but once the fish was gone they started opening durning the again.

Really? Hater!

It's possible that he's picking... turn the lights off in the room the tank is in, leave the tank lights on and sit back and don't move. Fish act totally different when they don't think you're around, like little kids. Observe for a while and you'll have your answer. Lots of food, other tank mates to "play" with will keep angels behaving fairly well. I've never had one so bad that I've had to remove it while picking at acros, certain other corals, like really "fleshy" welsos, acans, scloys, etc. are irrisistabe to most.

IME I've had tangs act way worse in a reef than any of my angels. All fish have their own personalities, all angels have great one's and they get "curious".

That is standard fare for that type of angel. I haven't heard of one that doesn't eat corals.

I had a flame angel years ago that touched absolutely NOTHING for almost a year... Then his appetite changed...

i lucked out with mine so far ,had her for 2 yrs and she only picks on my Kenya tree , i got rid of my big chunk of it but left a few branches in the back corner , she loves it ,,i have gone undercover to watch her and have yet to see her get anything else

I have a cherub pygmy angel in my 29...had it for 1 year and has started nipping my paly's and a orange fungia plate.
Bi color in my 125g..1.5 years has started nipping LPS and paly's :(
I am convinced that any angel will eventually start to nip corals
it's what they do, swim and peck peck...swim and peck peck
