MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS REEFERS!!!

First and foremost, I hope everyone is doing well. Mike still isn't working yet but I hope something will happen in 2018! My mom went into ICU for three weeks! She had an infection caused from the dog or the cat. Apparentlly your pets carry some kind of bacteria that doesn't hurt the pets but can hurt humans! Anyway she became septic and almost killed her! Thank god that she is doing much better and is now at her home after a month in the hospital.

So the reason for my post today, is we recently got a coral beauty for a gift from one of our friends, and I do not know much about them. But here is what is going on, he bought from Petco. So I do not know how long it was there... We have had it now for 72 hours and he still isn't eating. He is swimming and hiding, but that about it. He has bright colors and doesn't look like he is sick.

So my questions are
How long do I wait before I should remove him to the QT?
I have tried feeding sea weed we got from the Asian store and he still doesn't want it
I have been feeding brine shrimp and he doesn't want that either

If anyone has any advice please let me know! I hope everyone is doing well and happy!

Thanks again!

Andrew and Mike

Merry Christmas to you @Oceanwave45. I'm glad your mom is doing better. That's pretty typical behavior of a newly acquired coral beauty IME. After a week ours started eating then became a little piggy. You might notice the fish picking at rocks, that's a good sign. Some frozen LRS reef frenzy mixed with some reef nutrition oyster feast has done wonders for feeding. Give it time.

Great thank you so much for your help! You are always so kind and informative! Thank again! Cheers 2018

I've had mine for about 2-3 months and the first week it only picked at the rocks. Now it eats constantly and is a little bully. Even tries to bully the tang around, but that doesn't work too well. Hasn't touched any coral yet, thankfully.

As DSC posted this is pretty common behavior for Coral Beauties. Mine is really hardy, eats everything including clown fish eggs. He waits until the clowns spawn and goes and eats the eggs. Mine did pick at my sps so he is currently in a tank with only soft corals.

Thanks everyone!! great advise thats why I come here!!! I will give these a try if I doesn't work, then I will try some of these suggestions!
