Coral beauty questions

Hey all!!

I am thinking of buying 2 coral beauty for my fish only tank. There isn’t algae in it because it only gets light for 4 hours a day. Keeps algae and maintenance way down.

Tank - 60g tall. With a 10g sump
Stock - 4 yellow tail damsels (so far not aggressive) and one leopard wrasse

Questions:
-Will getting two at the same time encourage fighting between the coral beauty?
-Since I don’t have algae in the tank, can I supplement with a norri clip?
-Are these fish aggressive?

Any advice is welcome!!

One in a 60 would be fine, I wouldn't do two. 60 gallons would be to small for a pair. Yes they love nori, I gave mine a sheet daily and she would demolish it.

I agree with crabs…I have a coral beauty and flame angel in a 55gal display. They get along for the most part although the CB is def the boss of the two. Both love nori…

2 dwarf angels in a 60 reef tank isn’t real bad… but yours’ is a 60 tall FO , with no live rock for hiding, and less ‘ground area’ sq. footage.

Since you’re probably going to try anyway, I’d try to get 2 different size CBs.

I added 1 to a reef tank. Ended up taking.it to a petco who said they already had a buyer lined up. This was 5 yrs ago. It was a coral nipper and a lot of my coral retracted. Beautiful fish. Let us know! Good luck.

I have lots of live rock for hiding. About 50-60 lbs (Fiji, branches and coral Skeltons)

I am sorry you feel this way.

I wouldn’t be asking for advice if I didn’t really want it. But if it works, and makes sense for me and the new found pets. I would like to do this obviously.

All advice given to me doesn’t fall on deaf ears is all I am saying. If I take the advice at the end, is ultimately up to me. But I won’t do anything just because I really want something, it has to make sense.

Example is, I really would love a large blue tang or maybe even a large eel. But no possible way am I going to torture a poor animal like that.

So all advice is welcome!!

Also rehoming fish for me isn’t an issue. I have a buddy who is trying to fill his 250g fish only tank up. Which he only has a few puffers in it. So if aggression is an issue, I can rehome. Just don’t want to pay to fill up my buddys tank lol. Just FYI

I think you could keep a pair. I don't see any reason why not, especially since you have lots of rock. You can definitely feed nori. To get a pair, just make sure to find a small one and a big one.

Just buy 2 babies from Biota, they are all in a tank together anyway and when they get into your tank thy'll figure out whose boss pretty quick and you'll have a pair.

I have 3 yellow tail damsels, 2 small ones and a bigger one. One small one stays on the left side of the tank, the other stays on the right side of the tank. The big one goes all over but stays mostly under a rock in a cave guarding the eggs the 2 small ones are always laying(about every 5-6 days).

The key is room/space. Two in a 60 would be pushing it. Two different dwarfs may and I say MAY work but one is best
In a 90g as an example- Much better risk

Thanks I’ll roll this around in my head a little bit. Maybe I’ll get two different ones or just one. Time to start googling.

I have Coral Beautys in several of my tanks. I've made the mistake of having two and would advise against it. They are sequential hermaphrodites and a mature breeding pair most likely will end up the only two fish.
