I know the topic of dwarf angels and their compatibility with reefs is a topic that has been discussed for years with no definite answer. So my question isn't is a coral beauty reef safe but rather if you've ever had one in a reef, how did it do?

I have always had mixed reefs and coral beauty’s in them. I have never had a problem with them bing in there but that does not seem to be the norm. I do feed heavily so that maybe part of the reason I have had no issues.

Have one currently. No problems so far. Well, other than the gramma going on a rampage two days after I got the CB, hurting my fairy wrasse, and basically leaving his established territory and acting super aggressive for two weeks befor the CB and my female Midnight Clown both got tired of his crap and beat him into submission, with my now recovered fairy wrasse decidingto join in for some payback. Now my CB is the "sheriff" of the tank. Hence why my CB is named Wyatt Earp. And fairy wrasse is Doc Holliday, cause even while seemingly in terrible condition he still put up a fight (also he is the same color as a red huckleberry, which means he can say "I'm your huckleberry" to me, you know, if fish could talk.).

I just dropped a baby CB in my reef 2 days ago. It's mixed but lps dominant. I love the look of this fish so I gave it a shot, but I have a fish trap ready to go just incase

I've kept a couple Coral Beauties over the years and had good luck long term.
My first one was a transplant from a friends tank. I had him for 9 years before he passed.
My second one was in my care for just short of 15 years.
Never had a issue with either one.
Occasionally they would take a nip at something, but never aggressive eating.

my coral beauty and rabbit fish ate my brain coral & acan picked on them til they died thats the only corals they bothered

They are reef safe caution but never had an issue with them bothering coral

Reef safe "with caution" sticker.

I have one and it will mouth every new coral I introduce and eat zoa's. So in my case it is reef safe with all corals that do not look like skittles (Zoa's).

I wonder if there is any difference between the wild and captive bred versions as far as reef compatibility. I desperately want to try a dwarf angel (likely candidate a captive bred coral beauty...a CB CB?) when I get my tank set up but go back and forth on it b/c of this.

Thank you all for the feedback. From what I gather from everyone's experience is that it's basically a 50/50 coin flip. I have a baby in my reef now. We'll see how it goes. I have a fish trap ready to go just incase. So far he hasn't shown any interest in any coral.

I had one and all my zoas and toadstools closed up. When it was gone, they all opened back up. Not worth it imo if u plan on having corals.
