Coral Beauty White Spots

Hello, I just purchased a Coral Beauty. I spent a good 30 minutes at the LFS looking at it and found nothing visible to cause for alarm. I even asked the employee to throw in some food to make sure it was eating, which it was. I brought it home and after 90 minutes of drip acclimation I put it in my tank. The fish is not shy and was picking at the LR within 10 minutes and even ate the mysis I threw in the tank immediately. It seems active and healthy but now I'm seeing tiny white spots on its head, which was not visible at the store. Can it be ich so quickly? Any ideas as to what this may be? The fish is still actively picking at the LR and besides the white spots, it seems healthy. I don't have a QT due to budgetary and space constraints. Thanks for any responses.

A pic would be helpful. The key to success in this hobby is to assume (rightly so) that all fish are infected with one thing or another and to perform a medicated quarantine. Myself, others and lots of poor fish have learned that the hard way.

A quarantine tank can be had for under $100. All you need is a 10 gallon tank with a lid, an air filter, an air pump, a heater, couple of pieces of pvc and some meds and a copper tester. With practice the process becomes easy.

Usually ich doesn't show up the first day that you have the fish, but sometimes will the next morning.

Could this be some sand or detritus that got stuck to the fish during acclimation/transfer to your tank?

Thanks, Jay. I didn't mention that it did look like sand or even tiny bubbles. Hoping it's not ich. Wifey said 1 large-ish tank is enough in our house, so no QT unfortunately.

Pics would help a lot as mentioned. My cb had small white spots pop up early on, they did go away in qt but it didn’t look like ich.

Here's the best 2 pictures I can take of the fish. It's a very active swimmer and is picking at the LR and ate mysis this morning. Any help identifying it is much appreciated.

What I’m seeing looks like it may be scrapes and possible lymphocytosis.

Thank you for the response. It's kinda weird sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. Then it appears on the other side of the head. Either this thing is moving or it's just getting gains of sand on it's head swimming in, out and through the LR. Or I'm just seeing things.
