I purchased a coral beauty angel fish fish from the lfs and with the process of acclimation to my tank and the stress on the fish that comes with it, it has developed fin rot which I noticed when I saw a small hole in its fin after purchase, I want to save it but don't know how to treat it. it's been a few days since its had the disease and I want to know what medication should I use and if it is already too late to save the fish, it swims fine its fins r falling away and it has developed cloudy patches.

This is a sign of a bacterial infection I would treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic like Kanaplex if the fish worsens and develops white patch on the body or red sore you would want to add furan2 and metronidazole along with the Kanaplex. This has to be treated In a qt it's not a reef safe treatment

+1

Fin rot is generally bacterial - a broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment should help her get over it.

I was recommended melafix and another product that they would have to ship in but I didn't have the time to wait for the medicine so I just got the melafix. I separated the angel in another tank and treated her but I don't know if I was fast enough because this morning she was laying on her side but is still alive with rapid breathing. Is she a goner?

I can't say for certain, but it doesn't sound good . . .

Melafix is good for a few things - though I can't remember what, off the top of my head - and probably better than nothing for a few more things, but it's not what's need in the case of a serious infection.

+1 with Bruce melafix is a natural remedy it might work on mild stuff but you need a antibiotic a lot of Lfs carry api's furan2 and I you can find seachem Kanaplex and metroplex that's the combo you want otherwise you can order metroplex and Kanaplex from Amazon or Marine depot
