Coral beauty with flame angel?

I just picked up a really small baby flame angel but i also really want a biota coral beauty but I heard its a 50/50 chance they get along. Since there both babies and the coral beauty is captive bred is there a better chance that they could get along?

Are these going into your 29 gallon tank? I would just do one given the space constraints. No telling if they would get along long term either.

I got the flame angel yesterday but i dont have the CB yet i have to order it. Is it to late to add the CB?

You can add multiple dwarf angels to a mid-sized tank -- but it's generally not a good idea without sufficient planning. You also have to ensure adequate territory for both fish, and that means creating enough living space and feeding territory for the fish. Angelfish are grazers, and jealously guard their feeding spaces from other angels. They'er less aggressive with other fish that they don't perceive to be direct threats, such as butterflyfish, even though they often have similar shapes and coloration.

29g is too small for one angel, let alone two. I have two dwarves in my 65g at home, and I think it's pushing it. They generally do get along, although my multicolor is clearly dominant, and does push away the keyhole at times.

You never know, just try it. Some are more aggressive that others. You want to add the more aggressive last. I think CB is more aggressive so I would try. Worst case is you have to re-home one.

agree with jeffcb. i've introduced both CBs, Flames, Pygmy Angels at the same time before with no problem. the only one i recall having issues is a lemonpeel...but every species has their own character make-up though. good luck.

When you guys are saying “at the same time” do you mean literally put them in at the same time or am i still good to put a CB in even though I already put the flame in a couple of days ago?

I've had Flames and Coral Beauty's in the same tank, at the same time. Added at different times. Months apart. But in my case it was a 6' tank. You might be ok in a 4' tank.

You can add quarantined dwarf angels at different times as long as you take precautions such as rearranging aquascape, adding lots of (quarantined) macroalgae or (quarantined) coral colonies so that established territories are rearranged, and more escape routes added if aggression becomes an issue. I had my multicolor for about eight months before I added by keyhole angel, and the multicolor firmly considered the entire tank to be its territory by the time I added the second dwarf, so I think it was wise to do this. I haven't really seen much aggression between them in the year since I've done that.

FWIW for me, i usually introduce them at the same time. i agree with @mfinn's too. there should be enough room for the angels to roam. you should be good. if your flame staked out an area of the tank that you think your other angel may be interested in....and you see a little nudge here and there, you can always rearrange the aquascape (if possible) to mix things up...but IMHO flames are fine with CBs.....for me it's always been lemonpeels that didn't want to play "nice"--
