I noticed a few days ago my coral beauty angelfish has slightly bulging eyes. She has been in quarantine for 6 days I’ve tried treating with API triple sulfa no improvement it’s actually worse! I’m also pretty sure she can’t see since she isn’t eating. What else can I try? I’ve tried kanaplex before on my queen angel and it didn’t work she died anyway. I also feed them all metroplex and kanaplex. All water perimeters are normal and at 0?

Have you tried taking the fish into a quarantine tank? That way you can get it better water quality (I assume that a SG of 0 is very very bad for most marine fish....), and monitor dosing within the QT itself.

How often do you feed metroplex and kanaplex? Do you do this prophylactically (=even when there are no issues?)? Or only when an issue pops up?

My salinity is within normal range at 1.022. I feed it to them every day once a day...it’s been in quarantine for 6 days

Hmmm....how much are you feeding vs. dosing in the water? @Jay Hemdal ?
I also wonder about dosing oral meds...pretty much impossible to get a proper dose unless you know the weight of the fish, soaking food in the meds just doesn’t work. I’m working on writing a sticky about this, but it isn’t ready yet.
If the eyes were cloudy, but not bulging, I’d say try a FW dip and look for flukes...but the bulging eyes point more to a systemic bacterial infection.

I haven’t tried the kanaplex on this dish yet the last time I did the fish died anyway...I don’t dose in the water I have starfish and sea urchins...it’s one scoop each for 1Tablespoon of food and they get just what they’ll eat

The API triple sulfa isn’t working...I’m not a fan of it in the food just trying to use what’s left of it and not throw it out...I guess I’ll try a water change in the qt tank and switch to the kanaplex instead of the API

Hmmm....looks like you're quarantining with invertebrates? I am very, very confused here. Can you answer the following questions please?

Are you dosing your main tank with antibiotics?

Are you dosing your quarantine tank with antibiotics?

Where are the invertebrates in your system: the main tank, or the quarantine tank?

Is the quarantine tank connected/hooked up to, the display tank?

What is the expiration date on the API triple sulfa? What about the kanaplex? And the metroplex?

What other fish are in quarantine with the coral beauty?

How big of a "scoop" are you dosing the meds when feeding them to the fish? If the scoop came with something (ex. Seachem Focus scoop), please detail it! If not, please approximate to the nearest volume (ex. 1/8 tsp).

If feeding medicines internally, are you following any guides? If so, please list the recipe (ex. let us know if you're using HumbleFish's guide to dosing for internal parasites/disease).

What filtration are you running on the quarantine tank?

You can try some epsom salt to reduce the swelling:

not dosing main tank with antibiotics because I have invertebrates the fish is in a separate tank

quarantine tank is dosed with API triple sulfa

coral beauty is the only fish in the qt tank

not connected to main tank at all

API metroplex and kanaplex are not expired just purchased last week

one level scoop of each metroplex and kanaplex per 1 tablespoon of food is the directions on the label with a level scoop of focus to bind it to the food...all 3 came with a scoop to use

no major filtration on the qt tank since it’s medicated...it’s running without the carbon filter
