Coral beauty

So I need some advice. My wife wants a coral beauty for our reef and I would love to get it for her because her birthday is next week however I have softies in the tank right now and was looking to start adding lps soon. Is it worth the risk? Is there a way of adding any security that he won't start chowing down on my coral?

Nope. I wouldn't do it. I have a gorgeous flame angel in my tank that's a real pest, and I'm going to have to remove him. Of course, this butt only picks at the most expensive corals. It's totally hit or miss with dwarf angels, and, even if you get one that doesn't pick initially, that doesn't mean he can't start at any time.

I have coral beauty in my mixed reef, and hasnt nipped at coral. However, i feed several times through out the day, and keep nori clipped when the lights are on.

He would only be feed twice a day once in the morning and once at night

How big is your tank? As long as it's not too big a fish such as a Coral Beauty can be removed quite easily if worst comes to worst. I'd go for it.. GL.

That's not too big. If the fish ever does decide to start munching on your corals you can always resort to the High & Dry method outlined in the link below. GL.

My Coral Beauty is feed heavily once a day with a frozen mix, nori and flakes, this fish has never picked at my corals.

I have one in my 110 mixed reef. Was advised against it after I added. But, he's been a model citizen the past 5-6 months. Not a nip or loss he has caused.

I had one in my mixed reef for 3 years. Not once did I see it nip at anything. Constantly grazed on the rock all day.

The one I had would pick on my Kenya tree corals, but that was about it. I never "witnessed" anything else.

I have one in my sps tank with a few lps, he will nip now and then at sps but it doesn't affect there growth or pe. Imo they are fairly safe, I can get him in my fish trap if needed.

Could I stick to two feedings a day and just leave a clip of seaweed in there for him?

I have a coral beauty in my 55 and i have zoantids, mushroom, hammer coral, frog's spawn, acans and an anenome and mine has never even looked at any one of my corals. I'm actually getting an eibli this Friday. They get a bad rep about it also and my cousin has one that hasn't even looked at his corals

ive only been able to feed twice a day and clip on seaweed for a while now and havent had any problems.

Your going to get a lot of mixed reviews on this. I have one in my 65 gal that has never touched a coral. It's been in my tank for about a yr. it's hit or miss. Biggest question is are you willing to take the risk?

I have one in my 65gallon. I've never seen him show any more interest in corals than an exploratory nip here or there, and that old Excel chart that exists .... somewhere on the 'net .... lists them about about 80% safe.

But . . .

_Something_ has been damaging the tips of my Stylophoras. I haven't seen it happen, so I don't know who the culprit is.
