I have a brain coral and I feel like it may be starting to bleach. Would this be the cause of poor lighting? I have a Marineland Double Bright LED light. I ordered my new 4 lamp T-5 HO light and it will be in next week.

I need to know how long I should have my white/blue lights on and how long my lunar should be on. Please help. Thanks.

In my experience bleaching is caused by the opposite; too much light. I have some neon green paly's that have grown their way higher up in the tank that get baked by my led's. The higher up the whiter they get. Are you seeing the skeleton of the brain or has the flesh actually turned white? Can you post a pic?

Brain coral doesn't need much light, it will do well and nice color if you place it on the sand bed. Bleaching normally caused by too much light. Color will come back if you place it in the right place.

I run my light 10 hours for Blue, 8 hours for white and lunar after that. Blue on an hour before white and off an hour after white.

Brain coral is a generic term. Exactly what kind of coral is it? I've never used one but I don't think those Marineland lights are capable of sustaining coral. Isn't it just a few 1w LEDs?

they do make a marine version and a reef version but the reef version is laughable for LED's. Basically added some blue and called it reef compatible. I have seen em a few times and for the $ i would rather buy a nice DIY kit or PAR38's or even an aquatraders light before those.
