Hello!
So, short version.
I have an IM Nuvo 14, and the compartment with the pump in it is /very/ tiny, making this quite a tight fit. There is nothing physically blocking the float from going up and down. There are no excessive bubbles, surges, or other variations in the water that I have been able to observe (I have eliminated them to the best of my ability for troubleshooting.)
I have replaced the optical sensor once. (Low level protection)
I have replaced the controller itself once.
The pump is original.
The float sensor is original. (Overflow protection)
The issue is that the unit will fill and not stop until the float stops it, leaving the entire ATO assembly that goes inside the tank submerged completely. Keep in mind that the compartment is VERY small, and it only takes a half a cup of water to accomplish this. My weekly evaporation is probably only about a gallon, if even that much. I have a 5 gallon bucket in the stand and fill it once a month. (but not to full).
This has never worked correctly. Ever since original installation this issue has been persisting despite my myriad of efforts to correct it. However, it is NOT constant. For hours, and once even for a full day, the unit worked exactly as intended. It did not overfill, it did what it should, and then for no reason I could suss out it overfilled the tank until the float stopped it. This led me to think the optical sensor is the issue.
This issue mostly happens at night. Or maybe its just that I get most annoyed by it waking me up around 2-3 am. But it has also happened during the middle of the day.
I'm at my wits end! This exact same Coral Box ATO unit (before I swapped control/sensor) worked fine for 9 months in my 75 gallon tank in the sump before I tore the tank down.
Does anyone have a Nuvo 14G that they have an ATO in.... and works?
