Coral Box D700 Skimmer, how is yours set?

Ok, i've had mine now about a month, plenty of break in time. First off the skimmer is on a very lightly stocked(4 chromis) 90 gallon that is about 2 months old. So far i can get massive amounts of bubbles with the gate valve half open and pump speed at 3. I've tried it with the gate all the way open and speed at 7 and fully closed with speed at 2. I'm wondering what you other owners have yours set at. I'd like to find one setting to leave it at but with it being so lightly stocked there may not be enough waste in the water.
There's no question the skimmer works. I just want to hear everyone's experiences with it. I currently have it set with the gate wide open and speed at 5 and it's skimming wet and doing great.
Any feedback would be appreciated!

I just got mines last weekend at my LFS, its not working yet because it seems the pump that came with the skimmer is not compatible with the controller, since the LfS is soo far from me its cheaper just to get a 50w jebao controller from ebay and it will work.

I tested it already with my main pump controller which is a jebao also.

I have mine in around 6" of water with the pump on full speed and the gate valve half closed. I messed with heights and speeds and it seems that this was the best balance for me. It produces very dark skimmate even on my very light bioload but I used roughly the same settings when I had a full tank with great results. I have never had a need to turn down the speed other than when anything is added that makes it freak out (which is rare) but I find this much easier than resetting the gate valve adjustment.

I finally dialed mine in. The skimner sits at the optimum water level mark on the gate valve adjustment piece. Idk exactly how deep, maybe 7-8". I have the speed set at 2 and the gate 3/4 open. This setting, for me, produces dark green nasty skim. The 90 gallon has an orange shoulder tang 3.5", 5 small green chromis, a spotted mandarin and a purple/yellow fish whose name just escaped me! Lol. I feed fairly heavy, due to many SPS, LPS a maxima and plenty of zoas and mushroons. I have a small section of the sump growing chaeto. Aside from small infrequant wayer changes, my Nitrate is 2-5, and Phosphate .03 .

This skimmer is such a great value and i would happily recomnend it to anyone as well as buy another for any future tank i set up. I could also upgrade and double my current size and this beast would handle it.

I don't use the drain as i'm always watching and cleaning every few days but those of you who do, have you had any serious overflows?

How happy are you all with your Coral Box skimmers?

I am very happy with mine and have recommended it to numerous people. It seems to perform much better than my Curve 5 did on my 75 and the adjustments are much easier as well.

The only time I have overflows is when I add something to the water that it doesn't like. It never seems to overflow unless I did something within a few hours and if it does I just turn the pump down to low and let it run its course.
