I just got a coral box dca9000. Was going to put it in the sump until I notice the screws. Should I cover them with silicone or will they be ok. Thanks ....

They are stainless steel and they will be fine in the water. Mine has been in the sump for 8 months and they look like new. But you are smart for asking the question!

I would cover them just to be safe being we don't know the grade of screws. I'm pretty sure all grades of stainless will rust or corrode in saltwater, Some soon than later. who knows they may not even be SS they may be titanium and in that case they will be fine. I would confirm what they are first by contacting Coralbox

According to Scientific American it will not rest.

Some stainless steel is better than other stainless steel. Some will never rust, some will get a patina of rust and some really cheap stainless will rust in saltwater. But again, the screws on my pump look like new.
