Coral Box QP-16 pump

I just got a QP-5 from Coral Box [for my 14 gallon]. It's very, very quiet and very powerful. I have no information on longevity, though.

Thanks ThunderGoose. I guess they don't have any electronics embedded into the motor block like the WP and RW series pumps do. I had a couple WP-40 pumps that only lasted a little over a year, then sudden death. I had them on wave mode switching from full on to off a couple times a second 24/7. It's definitely the motor and the impeller assembly seems fine. I'm sure an electronic part embedded in the epoxy motor block failed. It just twitches one time when I give it power.

The wave thing seems like it was a passing fad, probably in large part because so much switching is hard on motors.

Anyone else using a QP pump willing to give the good the bad and the ugly?

Im using two qp16s the flow is great but ome pump made a squeeling sound and has stopped now. Only a week with them. I like them.

Been running two qp5s for about five months. No problems. Quiet. One noticeably reduced flow when it got dirty but cleaning restored the power. I just run the smooth ramping up and down but at slightly different intervals. I prefer this configuration over any of the linked modes.

Been running the qp-9 and love it and it’s power. I did do some research and they have made a controller for these to be able to connect to WiFi and Phone. The bad part is you need a controller for each pump and can’t connect more than one pump to a single controller.
