Hello all, I recently purchased an oceanic 120 gallon tank for an upgrade to my 75 breeder. I've been looking at upgrading my skimmer and wave pumps as well. I've been reading the reviews on reef breeders website and am looking for more input from other reefers that use their equipment or know somebody who has.
The flow ratings and wider dispersion would definitely be better than my koralias for wave makers and the skimmers seem very well priced. My current skimmer is a hob reef octo and there is no way it will be up to the task of a 120.
Thanks for all input anybody might have, good and bad. Not set on purchasing these items. Trying to gather more info on durability, controllability, and features that work well and those that don't.

I have run a Coral Box 500 + skimmer for more than 1.5 years now. In a 80 gallon tank (300 l) I´m more than pleased. The only problem I have had is a slow buildup of calcium carbonate in the inlet of the air close to the pump. I have had to clean that every month. For the moment I test a trick from another reefer here at R2R (@ksed ) that it will help if you have the pump to stop every second to third day for a minute (back washing) For the moment I stop 1 minute every day - we will se if this solve that problem. in your case - I would go for the 700 +. It is a DC pump and you can run it at lower speed if you want. My DC pump (DCA 2000) can be run with their new controller for DCA 4000 and upwards. It give you the opportunity to use a 1-10 V signal for the speed (Apex or GHL computers). I do not know if this ios true for the DCA 3000 - have not tested with the DCA 3000 pump.

I have use two Jebao RW8 all the time - have changed both pumps after 2 years. The QP-9 seems to be better chose but I will not have them to fit into the places I have hided my pumps

Sincerely Lasse
