Are coral cat sharks still available for the aquarium hobby?? Trying to research online doesn’t really give any information. Keep seeing this Pete’s Aquarium site saying they’re available and there is a customer review from this month from a supposed customer who purchased one from their site?? I’m also aware of multiple people saying this site is a tad shady lol. I’m hoping one of our members may be able to clarify what’s what on this subject.

True Coral Catsharks (Atelomycterus Marmoratus) are endangered and no longer collected. However Australian Marbled catsharks (Atelomycterus Macleayi), which are the same at what Pete's has, are available and very similar. They are a little less active and about 10% smallers than Coral cats. Pete's is super sketchy and has very unhealthy sharks, I've been there in person it's a chop shop. You may get lucky and get a strong specimen that will survive but I personally wouldn't risk it.

Ok thank you for clarifying both subjects now it makes sense. I know you keep sharks yourself where do you get yours from? Seems like there a lot of sites like Pete’s that seem super sketchy??

I actually got really lucky I got mine from a local that had them hatched from eggs. TheCoralReefTN has gotten Marbled Catsharks in before. I've seen them before on Reefs4less/Saltwaterfish. NYAquatic also gets them semi regularly.
