Have you ever bought a coral from lfs that has beautifull coloring and after a few days in your reef it turns brown or green? Is it possible that they are dying these guys so we we buy them as seen??????

The lighting, flow and parameters in your tank could be a lot different than the tank that it came from and it needs time to adjust.

Most likely photo adjusting. I have had this done with a hoeksemai I purchased from my LFS a while ago. Brilliant blue when I purchased it and brought it home, week later browned out and slowly came back to the brilliant blue with a hint of purple.

In my experience, I've known many LFS that get their coral direct. As these corals aren't use to being kept in a glass box the LFS try to sell them as fast as they can before they brown. OF course you have a few that keep their color but mostly, especially SPS, loose their color. After these corals get acclimated to our tanks they color back up so its a matter of patience and husbandry.
