I thought generally to avoid corals fighting each other, it is usually ok to put them next together if they are the same type of coral. Are there other combos that work?

That's the general idea. Favia (war coral) can be a bit of hit/miss though.
It's tricky since we have broad language to describe corals. For example, not all "SPS" sticks will tolerate each other. Many will fight and you'll end up with two dead colonies.

Same type, like zoas, acans or hammers can be put together. Some acros will murder each other same with montis, others tolerate each other with no issues. Favias can be quite aggressive and some chalice too.

Just don’t put your favias next to your chalice .... my chalice is slowly recovering.

Never know how long the sweeper tentacles is on my candy crush favia ... crazy long and extremely aggressive

I had an acan echinata next to an acan lord by accident and it was chaos! I also have a war coral getting dangerously close to the acan lords....time to upgrade? haha
