When you order corals online, do you take off work to accept the delivery? Or are the corals usually ok in the box until the end of the day? I know this probably depends on the temperature outside, so at what temps would you say they might be ok at?

It really depends on the weather outside and where the drive leaves it. For example, what if the driver left it in full sun? A hot package is generally worse than a cold package. I'm lucky to be still working from home due to the pandemic, but prior to this I would take a day off or go in late on days I was expecting a coral delivery.

That makes sense. I've got corals coming from one of the sales this weekend, so I won't have to worry about heat, but my Fed Ex comes at different times and I'd hate to take off a whole day if they come in the afternoon and the corals would be ok for a few hours.

if its upper 60's to 70's....springtime for me I usually get it when I come home, usually delivered after noon and I'm home by 4pm. I've driven home at lunchtime if it gets delivered sooner. I'll also order stuff if I'm on vacation at home for a week. I rarely if ever order things when the weather is too cold or too hot. I've also had stuff delivered to work and then taken the rest of the day off....I have lots of available time to do so.

You can get notified by text whenever FedEx delivers your corals. Then you can get home if you live close to work.

Getting it delivered to work is a good idea. Maybe I'll try that next time. Thanks!

Is there a hold location nearby? If so have it held at the location and pickup on your way home. Better temp control then sitting outside all day.

Another option would be delivered to your work. Similar to holding at a location except you get the box.

Final option would be place an oversized cooler outside for them to place the box in. It will help with temp control but won't solve the problem of sitting out all day in hot/cold. Also depending on your driver it may or may not get placed in the cooler.

I have personally done all 3 of those. Lately I've just been getting the delivery at work and going home when it arrives..

I've found my driver's to be unreceptive to the notes within delivery instructions and physical notes outside in regards to leaving in the cooler. That was always my preferred method and once delivered I would go home for the day.

Do you know someone that can pick the I package and place it inside for you until you get home ?
Unfortunately, no. But i do have a kennel I board at down the road that might be willing to take the delivery for me. I might contact the owner and see what she says. Thanks!
