Coral dip

i learned the hard way what happens when you don’t dip corals. Even stuff from the most reputable dealers and trusted friends should be dipped. I use Julian Sprungs Revive. I would like to know what you dip with and the process you use. I’m especially interested in those that dip with bayer as I’ve always been a little scared of trying it.

I use bayer. I just add enough to a cup or two of tank water till it looks like skim milk. I used to measure, I believe it was 12 mls to one cup of tank water. I leave them in the dip for 15 minutes, then into a container of clean tank water for another 15 min., and then another rinse in another container of tank water for another 15 minutes to make sure all the bayer is rinsed off and then into the tank. This is of course after I've acclimated them to my tank water.

Just got.my first batch of corals and used revive at 4 capfulls if i remeber right. 10 minute soak.and swish around, then several clean tank water baths

I use revive and have used Bayer in the past. Just use revive now. Never had any issues using Bayer

I just started using Bayer. I use 10 cc per cup of water and let it sit for about 10 minutes. No issues from a coral standpoint.

I use Blue Ocean Corals Coral Rx Concentrate Dip. Dip for 10 mins, few puffs with a turkey baster for any critters clinging on, quick dip in clean water, then into the tank. It was actually my first time using a coral dip so I had to do some math on the amount based on the size of the container I was using to dip. Only saw a bunch of copepods and amphipods writing in agony, but I inspected before placing in the tank and they seemed pretty clean. I was hesitant to dip a newly fragged hammer, but I didn't want to take the chance at contaminating my tank. All 7 corals perked right up after placed in tank and seem good after a week, so I'd say it worked well.

I used Seachem Reef Dip. Last weekend, I did notice a "hitchhiker" that came off the coral I bought that day that looked maybe like a tiny shrimp or something. Anyhow, whatever it was, it died and I didn't want it.

Do a search here for Bayer. One of the sponsors did some testing with AEFW. It took 15ml per HALF cup of tank water to kill them. Which is pretty close to one ounce per cup.
I did it this week at that rate. Scared me but coral was fine. 15 minutes after acclimating. So milky i could barely see the coral.

I haven’t had pest problems dipping with CoralRx (and straight up tossing some corals in the trash when they are carrying suspicious looking pests or eggs etc).

I avoid Bayer insect killer because it’s environmental poison, for example it kills bumblebees. Buying it supports the market for toxic lawn products that hurt our environment. I don’t know if you heard of Monsanto but Bayer just bought Monsanto today.

FWIW a small amount that I didn't rinse properly nuked my pod population a few years back. I had a tank with floating dead pods. That said, I might go back to using bayer once I get a proper QT.
