So I am very new to corals and recently bought some frags at an auction. And I have this i believe is a euphylia green hammer. I have it up high in the tank ( about 14in from av vega lighting).

Recently it appears either its tissue is being ripped off by current or its dying. I moved it to the bottom away from higher flow and lighting.

Any ideas if its a goner?

Thanks

I think it's depend on how bad it was damage while placed at high light.
I had the same problem before some recovered after about a month and some died.
If the picture above is the current state then it should not have any problem to recover.

So I ran a air hose from skimmer to outside, tested KH ( 125 ) tested calcium (400). Low on both sides ya? Added some KH buffer. PH was a little high, looks like 8.8 ish.

Euphyllia like low to medium flow. You did the rite thing by moving it down. Wait for it to settle. Dont move it for another week or so if you believe its in low flow. They can handle the low light as well. Your coral does not look like a goner and they will recover.

Now with buffers they mess with pH,your air hose will help with pH. Check your pH again, but dont chase it. Most important are dKH and Cal.
400-450 you should be fine of Cal and 8dKH or 145ppm are good for Alk. I think you meant 125ppm? What kit are you using to test these?

API calcium and KH test kits. Not the greatest i know. 125ppm for KH yes. Calcium 400.

If your parameters are within range then do nothing. No need to chase the perfect number.
You will stress your coral more by constantly adjusting the water parameters.
Give it a week or ten days under low light it will recover.

Thanks for the responses ... i will report back status

Hard to tell but it seems to be opening up more after 1 day of low light and flow. maybe I am wishful thinking :-)
