So I got home this morning to find that all of my coral is dying. I'm so frustrated! Did a big water change and checked all my pumps to find they appear to be working fine. Thought some voltage might be getting into the water but the fish seem happy. I'm at a loss now..

I was planning on selling the whole system.... then this happens! Lol

Mike did you do any water testing before you did the water change, this would help to track down the problem, its got to be pretty major if all the corals are going down hill.Give us some water test numbers Temp. PH,phosphates, nitrates, sailinty, and try and turn this around, but got to have some blood work on the tank first.

Also what is your parameters normally? What kind of corals are they? SPS? LPS? Softies? This will also help. How long ago did you do a water change before this one? Do you dose cal/alk?

All my levels where good, phosphates a little high but nothing extreme. I've been battling algae the last few weeks so water changes have been regular. It's a mixed reef and 3 days ago everything was fine. My wife said the power went out for a while and when it came back on my return pump was louder. I got home this morning and the pump was definitely loud I got it primed again and the sound went back to normal. Then the lights came on and I about threw up... Lol. Put one of my old pumps on and did a water change just in case. I also realized the timer for my light has gone bad. Also the water temp. was down 3 degrees so I put a spare heater on it.

Hey Mike, when we had those storms about 2 months ago, my tank DRAINED and then went with NO flow the rest of the day. I got the water back in it before I left, but didn't turn the pumps back on. My corals looked rough for a few days, but recovered well. If you need a foster tank to house your stuff in, you know where I'm at. Shawn DEFINITELY has room to hold it too.

Thanks for the offer but I'm gone again tomorrow so if what I did today doesn't fix the core of the problem then it may be to late by the time I have the time to get the stuff out. I've lost all the birds nest that I had and may have lost the Idaho Grape Monti. Frogspawn has opened back up but still isn't back to its old self. Everything else seems to be about back to normal as of now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed..

Listening to all this Mike it sounds like it was a flow problem, after changing the pump, and Slufs right, his looked rough but did come back, the SPS will do the most suffering, the LPS and leather family seem to come back faster, talked to Shawn earlyier and between club members we got the room if they need to be boardered, all ya gotta do is holler, won't twist your arm brother but if ya need us were as close as a phone call you know that.

Thanks everyone. Just talked with my neighbor and he said that his tank is doing the same thing. I'm sure it's unrelated but I thought it was weird that we are both having the same problem at the same time.
