Coral Feeding Questions

Different corals feed in different ways. Corals with feeding tentacles are adapted to feeding on bigger particles of food than acros and also get less light and probably in nature need to rely on food particles more than shallow water corals.

I will add this, since I know there are quite a few of us running bio pellets. The bacteria that enters the water column is also a preferred food source for our corals as well.

Everyday I mix a blend of mysis, plankton, and a reef vitamin supplement with a drop or two of garlic extreme for the fish. For the filter feeders I feed microvert, phyto and coral excel. I feed my two plate coral and my lobo both mysis mixture and phyto. My shrimp and lobster both eat mysis

This is somewhat related, but does running a skimmer take out food that coral eat? I have never run a skimmer and seem to get great results with coral growth. Also I check my parameters about every 10 days and everything seems spot on.

Your coral load consists mostly of zoa. So your demand on alk and cal is minimal.

Great question Bradon. Wish I knew the answer...

Sorry for hijacking your thread. I should at least contribute. I only feed coral reef chili once or twice a month. But I feed my fish 4-5 times a day. A mix of LRS reef frenzy, brine shrimp and mysis shrimp.
