It seems skimjim almost never posts photos to back up many of his 'unusual' processes.
And I'm not saying the feeding process he recommends is bad or wrong. Just no visual proof.
That said, my feeding style isn't all that different from his. I don't blend, but I make sure all the food is well mixed. And I mix 5 to 10 different foods (frozen, liquid, flake, pellets, freeze dried) in a glass with some tank water. I shut off the return pump and leave the wavemakers running and feed about half of what I make (I only have 5 fish but I also have a cleaner shrimp, a couple of pistol shrimp, an emerald crab, a bunch of small porcelain crabs, a few stars a couple sea cucumbers, a flame scallop, a few small clams, spaghetti worms and small feather dusters). After 10 to 15 minutes I shut off the wavemakers as well and spot feed anemones and a few corals. I let all the suspended food settle on the corals and leave it for another 10 to 15 minutes. Then turn the wavemakers back on for 30 minutes. Finally I turn the return pump back on and turn the skimmer off for an hour. And I do this every other day. I feed nori in a clip and a small bit of frozen food on alternate days and I may even completely skip a day every week or so.
My corals (mostly zoas) and rock flower anemones are all doing just fine. In the next 6 to 12 months I expect to have very, very little bare rock, if any. Many of the zoas that I've had in the tank for 12 months are developing from frags into nice colonies. I've even just had my third round of rock flower anemone babies. First was about 15+ months ago and the second was 6+ months ago. I have 4 full size adults, about 6 or 8 that are 1" to 1.5" in diameter, about 10 that are just under 1" and 10 to 12 new babies that are 1/8th to 1/4th inch in diameter.
And I'd be happy to post pics if anybody hasn't already seen enough of my tank! LOL!
