So I'm getting ready to go to bed and I peek in the tank as I walk by and see pretty much all my LPS have their mouths wide open but no feeding tentacles out. I know there are advantages to spot feeding your LPS to get them growing faster. My question is when? Do I wait until the lights are out and mouths are open/tentacles out? Will it have the same effect as doing it when the lights are on? How often do you spot feed without over doing it and starting to degrade water? Any insight?

Your LPS will definitely benefit from being fed. A good way is to wait 20 minutes after lights are out and turn off all your pumps and spot feed them. Then turn you pumps back on 10 minutes later. You didn't say what kind of LPS, so I can't advise any further.

you can feed them anytime of the day. i feed mine 4-5times a 7day week. The duncans we have went from 2heads to 15 in about 3 months. give or take a few from a few run ins with the bubblt tip. but hes all fine now.

Candy cane, pectinia, 4 chalices (one Already grows like wildfire and another is the only thing I ever see tentacles on), brain, frogspawn, jack-o-lantern leptoseris. I know the debate continues on the Lepto being sps or lps but I'm leaning more towards lps.

Personally, I feed my corals in the morning before the tank lights come on. There's light in the room. We switch up on foods, but we use Coral Frenzy often.

I'm usually trying to run out the door for work in the morning but I'll see how it does.
