Coral Feeding

Reef Chili is good because it stays suspended in the water column for a long time. The only negative for me is the PO4 issue. It's high in PO4.

That would explain why I still have a decent amount of algae even though my Nitrates stay at 2... Is there a way to control your Phosphates?

I just tested today and they're .06 I dose NoPoX daily
That's highish, but still acceptable IMO. What kind of algae are you working with right now? What's your bioload and feeding/water change schedule (this could dictate whether running a reactor is necessary or if it could be handled with WCs alone)?

It's mainly hair algae I believe.. I don't mind it growing on the back because my urchins eat it along with my Yellow tang but they can't eat enough of it it seems. I just get annoyed with it growing on my frag trays and the corals. I feed pellets every morning with flakes and then flakes again at night for the fish. Then every other day I cut up a cube of mysis shrimp and feed my LPS and my fish with it. I also dose the polyp booster twice a week when I feed reefroids. Then I feed reef chili every other day to my SPS corals.

That does seem to he a pretty heavy feeding schedule, though it depends on how much of each you are feeding as I see that you have a 180. I would honestly try reducing you feeding schedule before going to a reactor or something. If you still want to feed 2-3 times a day you could permanently replace one of the flake/pellet feedings with frozen foods. Flakes and pellets can be a great choice of food because they are packed with nutrients. Frozen on the other hand is like 85% moisture so while your fish and corals are still being fed, you're introducing far less nutrients into the tank.

I stopped feeding my corals coral food since I noticed I get a huge spike in nitrates when I do. I have a lot a fish and feed them a lot of frozen and pellets and my nitrates seem to stay really low now. Between the fish food and the fish poop it seems to be plenty for the corals. I do add some Kent marine phytoplex and chromaplex around 4 drops of each once a week and that seems enough for the fine filter feeders. I think between 8 frozen cubes a day and the fish poop the corals seem to be getting enough nutrition as they are all flourishing. Been going with this regimen for around 4 months now.

Also I have zero algea growing in my tank now and i have no idea why since I feed my fish a lot but my yellow, purple gangs and rabbit fish are always picking at the rocks. I think it's the bag of seachem phosgaurd I keep in my sump since I've never experienced no type of hair algae in a tank in 30 years, I mean not one strand of nuisance algae and I feed the fish pretty heavily.
