I am picking up my first clownfish in a couple weeks. I plan to get 2 small ocellaris. I do not plan to get an anemone. I would like to pick up some coral they may host. I was thinking frogspawn, hammer, and torch. Are these a good choice or should I try something different?

First the anemone hosts the fish.

Second it's not guaranteed the fish will even try to make an anemone or coral a home. Mine have essentially dug a hole in the sand and made the back wall of the tank their home.

Third I don't think euphyllia are a good choice because the fish's skin can get irritated and the coral could also.

Mine did live in a large Duncan in the old system.

My clowns have hosted all of those and my gsp and pulsing Xenia , I guess you could say anything that has motion:D and then of course there are some that won't host anything. But if your doing a reef tank those coral you mentioned a really nice addition to your tank if it is ready to add them, good luck:)

Mine that I sent home friend hosted my xenia, so I ended up sending a big chunk with them. Never paid any attention to my bubble or carpet anemone, the new pair ignores the anemones too.

That was my thought also. I had planned to get them anyway. I am just looking to give them some options. Lol

My ocellaris clowns were hosted by a BTA. I have seen each of them in my torch as well for short periods. They have never gone near my frogspawn coral.

Mine were hosting in a heliofungia (Long tentical plate coral) and they were cleaning it and looked happy and perfect. But it was killed by astria stars.

I have a hammer in my tank as well as some other motionless corals.
My clown chose my return hose lol

I've had normal oscellaris pairs hosted by frogspawn(in it), hammer (only floated around the top of it), bta's of all type, a ritteri, and goniopora (in it). Frogspawn would probably be the best bet if you don't want a nem. I'd also try the flowerpot next.

I've never seen a pair in a torch.

Mine have been hanging out in a frogspawn for years. They were rough on it at times and I lost a head or two, but eventually the growth of the frogspawn accommodated the clowns - they've been hosting for over 5 years and the frogspawn is growing like a weed.

Mine bounce around from gsp, to fiji toadstool and golden toadstool. Lately the golden has been the favorite as it is getting massive. They disappear in it
