I have a monti that is encrusting and it's on a rock that I can't remove from the tank as it supports several other rocks and it would just be a huge pita to remove it then try and place everything back to where i want it. Is there a way to cut the rock in the tank?

I'm sure there isn't a safe way to do this, but you never know.

It sounds like you’re trying to frag it? Just take some bone clippers and clip off an edge. You can glue the clipping to a frag plug or disc and it will grow out. The part you clipped off should grow back quickly as well assuming it’s happy in your tank.

trying to frag it, but it's on a main rock. Like in the middle of my tank, not plating but encrusted a good 4x4 section of rock.

Google "diamond wire hand saw". Rinse well before and after use.

That is how I safely removed this piece.

Well RIP to that whole rock, i pulled it out and smacked it once with a hammer and flat head, to break off one section and it broke into thirds....now it's all janky looking, but at least the corals are in the water.

To the fs i go tmw.
