coral from frag removal ? help

how do you get a small group of zoas off a frag ? scared i will hurt them
Is this to put them on the rock? What I do is I chip the nub on the bottom of the frag plug off and glue the rest on, the zoas will grow over the plug.

oh ok i i had a friend that removed that took his completely off but he would never tell me the secret i only have one frag in my tank and it happens to be pvc i really dont like the plastic frags is why i wanna do this but thanks

Just remember if you try to scrap them off the plug with a scalpel you should have gloves and especially eye protection. My OAG squirt all over the place when I fragged them last time. Palytoxin is no joke and you should be aware of this if you are not. Some are worse than others from what I have read.

Personally I also leave them on the plug and cut bottom like Oscaror

If your zoa's are like mine, then they will spread so quickly that you won't be able to see the pvc plug in a couple of months. If it really bothers you then take them off the plug or cut he plug down to a size that is the same size as the zoa's (so you can't see the plug) and glue this to either your rock structure or to a plug of your liking.

I have removed them several times, but always on zoa's that are on live rock . I assume it will work the same on PVC. If they have formed a mat, then I lift up 1 edge with a chisel or scalpel. Once this is done you can usually just work the mat of zoa's the rest of the way off in 1 or 2 large pieces. I do this in the tank as I have them on some of my base rock that I can't take out. I have to do this every couple of months as my zoa's are spreading to fast and are bothering my other corals. The bonus is that I can now sell those zoa's back to the LFS for my coral.

Mine had a huge glob of glue on about a 2" wide flat disk. I took a dremel with a cut off wheel and just cut the base of the glue. It was a pretty big colony so you can't even see the glue once they are on the rock. If the glue is big enough you might just be able to take a pair of wire cutters and snip the base too.
