Coral frustrations.

Slow tissue narcosis. It looks like the flesh of the coral is pealing off
My husband says no it's not that, I could disagree. The horn possibly could have stn. But it was like an overnight thing one night we had a stressed coral and the next it was just this little thin line of neon green on the bottom. It is growing back though...

dude, that ALK is low.

Plus if your parameters are way different in your display & quarantine tanks, your corals are going to have an adjustment period.

Lol just taking the pics.

My best advice would be get your alk and cal up a little with kalkwasser. And keep close eye on everything. Start there if that dose not help then can look at nutrients, lights and flow

sorry to ask silly questions, what test kit do you use?

as far as ALK, you can raise it with many over-the-counter products, Reef Builder, ESV products, etc etc. (do it slow, slow, slow)

I had two nice blastomussa pieces do this to me within 3 days of being introduced into a reef system. The tissue just shrank right away and kept going. Our ALK & calcium levels were crappy at that time. It wasn't tissue necrosis, just two unhappy corals that just didn't survive the stress of transport and then bad water parameters.

also what lights do you have on your QT tank? Brand and type?

API is bad bad bad. Don't use them for salt water.

Fresh water testing, fine, like as in, a normal, garden variety tank. If one was to keep high end fish or plants, I dunno what I'd suggest as a test kit for FW. LaMotte?

I agree with the this statement how ever I have found Api kh test to be accurate. I use it, nyos and Hannah and they are all within .5 of each other. Api how ever is usually .5 higher then the other two. So if it says 7 I assume 6.5
