Hey reefers, I was wondering about coral gardens. Regardless of the type of coral, how many same type corals do you need to have/start a true garden. Any and all opinions welcome. TIA. :p

I say 3 but kinda of depends on tank size too.

In my 20G I would say 3 starts a garden 2 is just kind of there. I have 6 zoas, 4 acans and hopefully will have 3 euphyllia after this weekend to round out my gardens.

I have many sets of 2’d but don’t consider them gardens at all.

It seems like an arbitrary designation. A garden is whatever you want it to be, you can have one coral and call it a garden if you want, it truly doesn’t matter.

Good point. I didn’t consider the size of a tank. I appreciate the input.

agreed on it all being just terminology but for inputs sake Ill give my thoughts
1 = single polyp
2 = Duo
3 - 5 = Pico colony
5- 10 = Nano colony
10 or more = Garden
20 or more = Field

LOL?
This is a completely different way of looking at it, but I like it. Now you have me thinking about fields. Thanks a lot. o_O
