Got a large coral growing on the overflow. Is it ok to cover the slits in the middle? It’s growing well and very fast so I just want to plan ahead if I need to pull it off and trim it.

It is fine to cover those lower inlets, they draw in water but blocking them will not cause an overflow or anything. Most overflows do not have them, it's just an aqueon thing mostly.

I'm dubious those slits lower down are actually doing much. Great idea in concept but having seen how much stuff can collect and grow in the narrow space between the two walls at best I'd guess water flow is just a fraction of the top weir.
