I am trying to create a spreadsheet of how long it takes x coral to double in size. Weather it is going from 1 head to 2, or 10 eyes to 20, or 2 polyps to 4.
I’d love some input on these corals.
Torch
Frogspawn
Zoas
Duncan
Elegance
Favia
Acro

Assuming all parameters are kept very stable (Using Trident with DOS)
And lighting is perfect (I know this is not reasonable, just for the sake of keeping everything optimal)
Also assuming I start with 1 head/polyp of everything.

Are you looking for averages? I have acros that take no time at all to double in size and I have others that have taken 12 months of just waiting before they have even started to grow (obviously the two extremes).

For example, my SC OP is insanely slow, my WT Mother of Pearl is a decent grower, and my Ponape Rainbow is quite fast.

I agree that answers will be all over the place because even coral from the same family, acros for instance, will grow at very different rates even in the same tank.

that being said, Zoas have always grown fast for me, eufillia (tourch, frogspawn, hammer) maybe 6-9 months to double. Acro is very hit or miss for me. I've been waiting months and months for some nice pieces to start to do something, but no noticable new growth yet.

Give it time. I've had a rainbow millepora that has sat idle since March 2018 and finally started growing about a month back. It has doubled in size now.

I'm just waiting or my SC OP to get moving!

For my SPS, I log my growth with pictures on a website. Feel free to look through it to see some of the growth rates of my stuff. https://myreeflog.com

its kinda cheesy, but it is my way to keep track of growth and progression :)

Mine seem to be all over the map. This stag is by far the fastest grower in my tank over the past year:

Man that seems like it would be tough

My tank has run well since the beginning with all LPS and recently have been adding some easy sps. They sps are growing insanely fast.

I also recently have been trying zoas. They seemed to never really be happy. I have been moving them around a bit and then bam suddenly I am seeing new polyp after new polyp

Thank you guys for the help! I am trying to find averages.

Torch ,Frogspawn, the branching type ones seem to multiply fast for me. I've grown them from 1-2 heads to 20 plus in 1-2 years
Zoas the cheap ones multiply faster than rabbits that's for sure , most are very fast growers I'd say
Duncan they do grow new heads fast as well when happy
Elegance it just grows I'd say a slow one but I've seen a 3_4 inch one get huge and get fragged into 6 similar size ones after 4 years
Favia slow for me.
Acro depends which.

I don't know, but in my signature there is a timelapse that shows 15 months of growth in my tank. I have a camera mounted to the end of my 75G and it takes a couple shots per day, every 6 months or so I create a new video. Perhaps it will help.
