Curious about the growth of corals? Sometimes I see small, incremental growth and other times I get these huge growth spurts on many corals.

Why is that?

Im not sure, however I do see the same... My GSP will close up for 3 or so days about once a month , then it opens and explodes!! Same with my torch, its in the process of splitting, will close up and look somewhat unhappy, then BOOM!

corals are weird sometimes. this is something i will never really understand. one moment they are extremely happy and thriving and growing like mad, and others they're just like "ehhhh, not today." and yes, even with stable parameters.

Things get lined up for a short period of time: parameters, nutrients, lighting, flow, bacterial balance, pH, oxygen~co2 levels, temp

All those things converge at an intersection just near perfect for the coral to grow at a high rate.

But usually short lived until the next intersection

IN FACT the next time I'm at an awesome intersection I might just blow up my tank and dance around yelling I WIN, I WIN
