Coral Growth with Reef Breeder LEDs?

What is the coral growth like under your reef breeder fixture? I am building a 180g and I am looking into my lighting options. So far I really like the looks and the reviews of these fixtures but I never hear much in the way of growth. I am considering 3 photon 16's on my 180 due to the fact that I have two cross braces. I look forward to seeing pictures or reading user reviews.

I'm running a diy over a cross brace and have zero shadow from my lights being over it just thought you might like to know so you can look into other light setups

Howdy, I received my photon32 a few months ago. I hang mine as spec'd and the moon setting is the only big shadow I get. There are three moon lights...the middle one is smack dab above the center, so be ready to see that shadow every night....not cool. I also have serious fallout from both ends, I did get replacement optics (free from them) but even then the 32" really doesn't cover a 48" evenly.

I think the custom setting is perfect and timing is pretty awesomely pre-programmed.

My SPS, LPS, Zoas and anemones are doing good. Took a bit of moving to get a few shifted, but I planned on that. Ps. Did have a Dino break out, not the lights problem....I guess my old lighting wasn't strong enough to make Dino's breakout. I have now eliminated Dinos with hardwork....lol.

I would say the moon shadow and fallout on the ends were very upsetting, but if I tell the Mrs. I didn't expect that to happen, I fear my big spend days are limited.

I've noticed growth on my Monti since the coral went under the fixture last week.

My tank is a standard 180g. 6'x2'x2' with two cross braces. That gives me three equal sized holes of 2' minus the cross brace width. I haven't measured it exactly. The way I see it, 3 photon 16's would fit perfectly. But 2 of the 32's would fit and give me more wattage. However I'm not sure how they would react with the cross braces.

Same question Sloppy has. I'm ordering for a 125 with two cross braces 2' each section. How bad is the disruption/shadow when one of these fixtures is over a cross beam?

My 20" diy has no problem covering my 48" tank....given I wouldn't place high lighting req. Corals on the ends, but very low light corals would be fine. And no shadow from my center brace. I am also not running optics on any of my leds.

I am running 2 24" on my 125 with those braces you described. I like the fact that I have a couple lower light zones between the fixtures and in the corners. These fixtures put out some power and will burn corals even at 50% and 10" above the water line.

Daytime there is no shadow, and like it has been said...zones work great and I have just managed around fallout. I have Zoas, Leather and a monti on the ends of the 48. I have even tucked a few chalice frags at the very ends....and they are doing great there. I have not had any bleaching...again the standard settings on the timers is really perfect...I see no reason to change it. Honestly the remote was a nice surprise. and super slick if i want a bit more or less for whatever reason on special occasions (guest or when I was fighting Dino's)

Regarding this fixture vs DIY...I'm very capable to manufacture electronics..this was just as much money as a DIY and very clean. After extensive research and notes to folks in LED biz, buy what works today and change LEDs later if technology changes...

The shadow is nightitime when there are only 3 blue leds on. I will post other pics if anyone want to see nighttime or 100% daylight.

The Mille has encrusted a large section of the rock. It almost didn't survive the initial tank transfer, as my parameters to my new tank weren't stable, and it was up less than 3 weeks. It went from the brownest of brown, to this. The echinata? next to it is also a recovering coral from a gorilla crab incident, and continues to color up nicely.

Look at the funny fish aquatics led light fixture they are nice and mine grow coral great they are cheap too.they have 2green 2red 4uv 14k whites and moon light and digital timer at full power 330 at bottom of a 24 inch tank not bad for 220 each.

With 2 24" fixtures on a 125 I don't see much of an area without light. It is just a good area for lower light corals.

I asked for the best layout on my tank 48" 75g. I believe it was the 90deg but then he resent me optics when i explained performance issue after installation. I would give the dude a call, he is very nice and responded to calls and emails.
