This is my first time having a lps coral and I wanted to know if you guys think it's getting to much light or not enough

That’s an sps not a lps.
Also it’s impossible to tell you if it’s getting too much light. I don’t know what lights your running or when in the tank its placed But on a side note, that’s an acro so They love light

I woke up to it looking like this

I have an ai prime and they are set for 60% intensity. Ramp for 1.5 hours. They run from 8 to 6

sorry to tell you but that acro has bleached (dead). Like Anthonykp17 said go slow this hobby is more about learning how to keep water chemistry and lighting more than keeping corals and fish.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse here but if you just have to have sps try a montipora cap. They are very forgiving and grow super fast

That doesn't look good :(. I'm sorry.

I started with a birds nest SPS for my first in this new tank. They're a bit more forgiving and will help me get comfortable with SPS. I've only done soft and LPS in the past - but I waited quite a while before I added corals last time around.

I've had many sps die in this manner and now take adding sps very seriously. In fact I won't add more than 10 at a time since its not worth the hassle. SPS don't like change and asking it to adjust to high deviation changes in key parameters (temperature, salinity, Alk, and Lighting(PAR); has resulting in almost certain death. I now find out exactly what the coral is used to and start them with low light and work them up to higher intensity. If your alk, nutrients, salinity, and temperature are not stable then nothing else really matters. Dont give up that frag may have been going south before you got it.. Next time you will be a pro
