bought these two about 6-7 months ago the one on the left lavender and green and the one on right, can’t see much because of aiptasia, the one you can’t see well has grown the best, probably double in size, the pretty one on the left has grown maybe 1/2 again, is this normal growth, i have one fluval 3.0 i run now 7 hrs a day, if it is normal how long does it take

to be to get 4-6” in size, if it’s not normal what should i look for. Is it possible to have 4-6” in a year, thanks

Unfortunately, I'm going to give you the answer you don't want to hear. Every tank is different and the first year is the hardest for new frags- some stay the same size while others take off like a rocket and seem to grow exponentially. I would focus on ensuring they have the best growing environment (flow, light, nutrients, water chemistry, food, etc.) and let nature do it's thing. At this point, I'd put your mental energy into focusing on the basics.

Hi,

Tank is looking good. Everyone gave good direction. Hard to say normal growth witho seeing the original frag size. Just take your time and results will come.

I would put a plan together to combat the aptasia if you don’t have you. it does appear to becoming invasive.

Id snag up some of those aquarium books, read about the various coral and their requirements, what to expect and any issue they may present. Are you talking about the blasto?
yes,it seems to be growing very slowly

I sometimes wonder if it is like a watched kettle never boils situation. When you stop watching them, they will take off on you, and miss it... ;Woot

If it is a blasto, then IME the polyp won’t grow that much, but it will start budding new heads, which is really cool. After I started doing reefroids, I noticed all my corals grew much faster, might be worth looking into if you want a ton of growth. Good luck!
