I’ve had 2 frags of Zoas since October of last year and they have not grown at all. I have candy cane coral and they have not grown as well and as well a hammer. My lights are basic though , they are fluval marine. What could I do.
Ph:7.8
Nitrate:10
Nitrite:0
Alk:4
How would I raise my alk. I know I need it around 8. I don’t have a test for calcium and Magnesium.

Look in the Reef Chemistry forum for ways to raise alk.
What salt do you use and how often do you do water changes? If all you have is zoas and a couple of LPS, I can't imagine how the alk is getting consumed that much...
Also need to test Ca and Mg.

I use instant ocean reef crystals. I try to do a water change one time every week. I have 2 frags of Zoas, candy cane coral, a hammer and a nem.

Is this one a good one. I have the Red Sea multi test but it doesn’t cover calcium and mg.

I doubt your Alk is at 4. IORC pretty consistently mixes to a high alk... Over 10

I use All For Reef to keep my alk magnesium calcium and trace where it should be.

Zoas eat calcium like I eat cucumbers. Not much. Alk is a non factor with zoas if you do regular WCs

4 things to spur zoa growth:
* PO4 around 0.1 not more not less
* PAR around 100 with heavy 420-480nm Actinic
* Iodine around 0.1 on a Hanna tester, less than that they starve, more than that they get burned and shrink
* light flow, med to high flow irritates them

Hth

What test kit do I get for iodine and po4, I only have the Red Sea ca and mg and then the multi test kit.
