Why corals grow at different rates? Or maybe the better question is why one coral out grows others in the same tank? Even inches from others that barely grow!
If all parameters are in range, effective lights, generally good to very good water quality, with happy corals and fish, What’s the answer?
Instead of debating that all tanks are different, so growth rates vary, which grow quicker?
I know how chemically, naturally, but how could I tell a fast from a slow grower. I have never seen any kind of list. Let’s create one here! Don’t know the name ? Don’t worry ! I don’t know them either!
Acros, Monti’s, Zoa’s, whatever you feel is a fast grower.
Please post names and a photo of your FAST GROWERS !!!

Any birdsnest will be a fast grower. Pink and green as well as the pompeii are really fast growers.
Also my purple stylopora is fast and one of my favorites.

Purple Stylo is a surprisingly fast grower for how dense the branches get. Why? Genetics and environment. Everything will have a different “ideal” and some stuff is just more efficient at using light and nutrients for creating tissue.

I agree 100%, it just blows my mind, keeps my frustration, but I’m into the corals so much I don’t care about the fish.
My Purple Stylo more than tripled in a year, and prefers the bottom out of direct light

I moved mine to the bottom just to slow it down. Its growing much slower now, but when it was mid way up in my tank under the 400W halides it got too big (like wouldn't fit in a 5 gallon bucket big) and I ended up keeping just one section and sent the rest to the LFS
