I recently added a Fiji Yellow Leather, 2 Zoas, and a GSP to my tank. They all were opened and now they have all closed up and now the leather has a brownish mark on its base. I was able to remove it with just my finger but not sure what is going on. Maybe my parameters are out of whack not sure.

What are your parameters? That might be it. Was it like algae?
I have to go buy a test kit in the a.m I lost some of my stuff. It was just strange how they were all fine then they closed and now not opening. I' not sure what it was. But I read try to remove with finger or soft brush so I used my finger and it came right off

What else is in your tank? Is it very new
Been up for a few months. Just have 2 peppermint shrimp, maroon clown, 3 green chromis and some snails. It seems like the leather is starting to open again now a little

Are you running granular activated carbon? Or purigen?

I’d guess it’s just shedding.

More flow, I am telling ya. They are slow to respond to change but give it time. I have had Fiji's for years as I love their coloration. Hardy once established but they prefer more flow and lighting than other Sacrophytons/Toadstools.

What lighting do you have?
Did you get the water chemistry? If not proceed with water changes if you can not get the chemistry values.

Yeah it will hang in there under stock lighting but not thrive.

Welcome to the hobby. :)
I posted a pic of it. As u can see it looks horrible right now but the first few days looked awesome. So idk what happened

I just moved it to check it and I big piece just fell off and stuff seemed to come out does that mean it's dead i am assuming?

No it's not dead yet.

Acclimation is tough with this coral. If it continues to disintegrate, without the better lighting and flow it might be a losing battle. Don't be discouraged. Huge learning curve with this hobby. Research here prior to any purchases for equipment, products or livestock and you'll be ahead of the game.
