Coral help

Hey guys I got a viparspectra 300w back in august and I’m still struggling to figure this thing out. I have it 6inches about the top of my 40 breeder 20% blues 5% whites. My corals seem to close up when it turns on during the day. If I’m away before the lights come on I see that most of my corals are open and happy. I’m really confused on why this would be happening

Personally, I would start about 18" from the water.

I got it in august and before I just had a current USA led

Way to close for this light.
Mine are 14”.
At full 100% both channels, This light pushes easy 1000 par right under the lamp.
Higher will give you a better blend.

I have my 165 watt about 8 inches above and both white and blue are on 1 %

I just raised mine to 8.5 and I’ll lower my settings

I can currently only get it up to 8.5 without reducing my whole setup so maybe I can turn the settings down lower

I have a cheap light so I like it dim as possible because the lps open up alot more and the bright lights look artificial. So idk I hope it helps. Note at 1% my lights are still pretty bright
