I just bought a hammer coral and it doesn't seem to be doing good. Is it normal for corals to be closed up on the first day?

Yes. Give it time to settle in. Start it off lower in the tank and see how it does in a couple of days

Completely normal. But what are your parameters. How old is your tank? What kind of lighting? Do you have a pic (under white light)? Basically we need more info, but it’s totally normal for corals to stay closed for a day or two after moving them.

Especially with hammers. Don’t try to move it around every few days to try to get it to open. They can be annoying. Need to give them time to relax and open up. They get stressed easily.
