I have a 90 gallon mixed reef (LPS/Softy) tank. I am looking for coral either LPS or Softy that I can place high up in my tank. It will be on a structure that is about 4 inches from top of tank and will be about 9 inches from lights (Black box LED's). What coral can I place this high up (that won't grow taller than 2 inches or so)? It will have a decent amount of flow as well. I know that I can't put any toadstools, etc because they will grow to tall.

Try a neon leather mine is pretty high in the tank and loves the flow/light.

Are there any soft corals that I could put here that don't grow very tall? I'd like to get something that isn't a drab color (brown, etc.). Ideally, something that would look great under my blue lights.

I know you said softy or lps but have you considering a encrusting montipora? Some are fairly hardy and will do great in that light. If you pick a hardy popular one you can get frags cheap too

I already have a few monti’s already. Just looking for something else

Okay well echinopora and some other 'chalice' corals can do high light and don't expand upwards too much. Just need to have a idea what species the 'chalice' is
