Coral 'hitchhiker' ID?

So when I got my coral it had these two green squishy things attached which I mistook for a foot but I may be wrong. They have the same texture as the coral itself but are green and almost look like pincers?

one appears to have turned a black colour whilst the other is still green.

I would hazard it is a kind of fast growing branching sponge, it's pretty cool if it is what I think.
 
From what it looks like I'd say it is a tunicate having seen photos of them. Will it harm my coral? It appears to be growing into my Xenia's 'trunk'...
 
Just pull it out. They tend not too do so well in our tanks long term anyways and that one isn't particularly pretty.
