Hey everyone!!
we recently purchased a biocube 32 from someone. She had done very little maintenance so we have spent the last few weeks trying to get the parameters and green hair algae under control. I don’t know a lot about saltwater tanks. I had a couple tanks 10+ years ago but I’m discovering that I really knew nothing even back then. All that is to say I still don’t know much. . Our numbers are starting to look much better but I’ve been wondering about some of the coral that came with the tank. 1. The seller couldn’t remember what kind of coral this is In the first photo. I’m hoping maybe someone could help out and ID it for me. It’s still really small and she said to leave it on the opposite side of the tank because it will have a “chemical warfare with the leather coral” 3. I’m also attaching a picture to see if anyone has any insight on the leather coral. To me the stalk looks deflated? It doesn’t sit upright.. just kind of hangs off the side of the rock.. is that normal? TYIA!!!

Thanks for your response!!! I agree after googling it looks like a kind of leather coral. I don’t think it’s the same kind for a few reasons.
1. I pretty sure she purchased it separate
2. It’s polyps are long with no color and the other one has short green polyps
3. If they were the same kind, wouldn’t you be able to put them near each other? Just curious why they can’t be close to each other, like she said.

Anyone have any insight has to the condition of the limp looking green polyp leather coral?

In the past I've had leathers of different species close to one another with no Ill effect but there is always competition for space and corals will fight for space, it's part of the game.
Leathers will slough off from time to time and seemingly go dormant, they even split to propagate.
I always ran carbon to help with chemical warfare, But IME leathers were the least of the offenders.
