Coral ID and how to frag it.

Hi! Got this coral from my LFS almost 2 months ago when I first started stocking my tank. She has grown A LOT since I got her and I was wondering what she is and how to remove her from the original frag and glue the two smaller ones on the rocks around the frag.

is it a soft coral pictures a bit blurry , but I would say its a mushroom. If memory recalls you can split them down the middle and it should regen 2 though they will grow like crazy under the right conditions anyway.

Discasoma mushroom. Soft coral so if you are looking to move it/attach it to a frag plug you will want to break off the part of rock/substrate it is attached to. If you glue directly to the corals foot it may detach itself. alternatively if you get it off the rock and it's foot is detached you could put it in an area of low flow or in a cup with substrate until it attaches itself. . .

To propagate you would cut directly in half. . . look at Tidal Gardens video on youtube

Keep in mind this is all theoretical for me as I have never needed to do this myself.

Remounting shroom can be a pain. You cannot superglue them, you have to basically hold them in place until they decide to attach. A shroom cup or box with minimal flow is the easiest way. If you are just a hobbyist and not trying to propagate them for profit, I wouldn't bother trying to split them yourself as they will multiply on their own just fine.
