Can someone please ID this by it’s common name?

Thanks!

It looks like a small frag I have. I was told it's a new breed called Neon Xenia GSP. Mine is tiny. I hope it grows out to look like yours. I also have traditional GSP. Looks completely different.

It was a gift for my son from a really nice Coral store. He said it was a very rare and special GSP.

I’ve not noticed it to have a specific color, but it’s usually somewhere between black, brown, and reddish. The most important thing to look for is the small tubes.

Ok, I guess I will poke it and make it close up if it doesn’t do it on its own.

I’ll give it some time to do it by itself first.

It's a briareum, a type of GSP in layman's terms. There are several types which currently are all classified under one species. It is very unlikely that they are one species however, but there is essentially 0 funding for soft coral research so don't expect any corrections soo.

Gorgeous piece btw, never seen purple on the polyps

+1

I agree, I got few of them from bali (many months ago before the ban ) it is Briareum and they called it Metallic Star polyp

Hmmm, maybe briareum (green star polyp)??

You were correct!

I’m sorry I ever doubted you!

I think the purple and type of green had me doubting.
