I picked up this LPS coral from WWC in Orlando from their “ugly” 5 for $20 selection. I put them in my fluval evo that has been up and running for just over 4 weeks now to see how they would do. Didn’t want to put anything expensive or difficult in here being that it’s my first attempt at keeping corals. For the life of me, I can’t remember which coral this is, and I can’t seem to find it looking online. There’s actually two that I’m unsure about. The first one he said it looks like lava flow under blue lights. Very cool looking when the blue lights are one. The first one doesn’t seem to have long sweeper tentacles, or at least not that I have seen. The second one most definitely does. Both very cool corals, and they seem to be doing okay, but I’d like to know exactly what they are so that I know better how to care for them. I frequently see both of them grabbing onto pieces of shrimp when they bump into them, but I can’t tell if they are actually eating or not. On the first photo, the top part of it was already dead when I got it, but the lower section seems like it is doing okay, hasn’t changed any. On the second one, there are two polyps that have a white translucent color around the polyps, but these polyps will still occasionally put out sweeper tentacles. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Bottom is a favia
Thank you, that's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure. Any idea what's going on with the white polyps or what that might indicate? They are receiving moderate light and moderate flow which from what I have read seems to be what they prefer. Nitrate is just slightly over 1ppm and phosphate is around the same.

It’s normal. It’s how the feed. They’ll often hang out indicating it’s healthy. If they get really long it’s sweeping to defend its territory. So this is just normal feeding response.

Sweet, that's what I was hoping to hear. Thank you very much! Any guess on what the first one is? It looks like lava flow with the blue lights on. Leptoseris maybe? That's the closest thing that I have seen to it, it looks otherwordly with the blue lights. Insanely cool, and I do see it hanging onto pieces of mysis shrimp from time to time.

That’s what my thought was but it’s hard to tell from the picture. Think you got it right though with a lepto
